Custom box logos and artwork can be applied with three primary printing methods, depending on the quality of print needed:
This is the most basic form of box printing - usually 1-3 colors. This process is perfect for your logo or simple art. This is the most commonly used process for printing on shipping boxes. This type of printing places the artwork directly on the corrugated board.
This includes applying full-color print directly onto the corrugated board or many other substrates. This is a cost-effective process that is great for relatively short runs and samples.
Lithography produces photo-quality printing. In this process, we can print your high-resolution graphics directly to paper and then mount that paper to corrugated board. This process is needed when very high-quality printing is required.
Cost of Printing
Adding print to your custom boxes usually costs less than most people assume. For example, adding one-color direct print only adds about 10% to the price of the box.
A one-time tooling charge is about $400 for these direct print boxes, depending on the size of the box. This tooling can then be used for all future box orders, as long as your artwork doesn't change.
Higher-end graphics, such as multi-color litho-laminated print, have higher costs, but still only add pennies to the dollar in higher-quantity orders.
Lead Time for Printed Boxes (Turn Around Time)
Speed is where Custom Boxes Now excels. Most printed box orders can be manufactured within 3-5 business days after artwork approval. Contact us to discuss exact timeframes for receiving your printed boxes.
After you upload your files, our talented prepress technicians will review your file and indicate what may need to be changed or modified to meet your requested style of printing. After that, we'll provide you with the appropriate proof for approval.
We are one of only a handful of box companies in the United States that have a fully equipped lithographic prepress front-end. Our technicians are masters at file preparation and setup.
